IKON is a member of the Builders Merchants Federation, and we work with branches and groups across the UK — supplying, installing, and maintaining storage that’s actually built for how a merchant operates.
No two areas of a branch store the same thing. The trade counter holds small fixings and ironmongery. The warehouse holds palletised and bagged materials. The yard holds timber, pipe, and sheet goods that don’t fit on a standard pallet at all. Most racking companies treat that as three separate jobs. We don’t.

Trade counter racking is different to back-of-house racking — customers are standing next to it, not just staff. As branch manager, PUWER puts the liability on you if it hasn't been properly inspected. We sort that with certified inspections and a paper trail you can actually show someone if they ask.

Pigeon-hole storage for fixings. Cantilever, clad or unclad, for timber and sheet materials in the yard. Standard pallet racking for everything else. We design across all of it rather than treating it as separate projects.

Because the public is standing right next to it. In most warehouses, only trained staff go near the racking. At a trade counter, customers handle stock and walk past racking all day. Under PUWER that’s a liability to your staff and to the public — and most branches have never had that racking formally inspected since it went in.
A SEMA Approved Rack Inspector goes through every bay and rates it Green, Amber, or Red against current SEMA guidelines, with a written report you keep on file. If something needs fixing, our own repair teams can do it — you’re not handed off to someone else for the second half of the job.

Yes. PUWER puts responsibility on whoever’s in control of the premises now, not whoever installed the racking years ago. A SARI inspection is the quickest way to find out where you actually stand.

Depends on how many sites and where, but we can usually get an inspection programme started within a few weeks of getting in touch. If it’s urgent, tell us and we’ll move faster.
